Never shot a DE. Have handled them at gun shows though and could see where it would be a b**** to shoot. The grip is really awkward. Did you shoot full power 500's?

I honestly can’t recall... it’s been years. We ran the same ammo through both. I’m pretty sure they weren’t light loads. The ergonomics on the DE is what really made it awkward for me. I could handle the smith fine and absorb it. But the DE wanted to flip like the video of your wife. It was cool as a novelty... but totally pointless. I’d always wanted a 50 DE, but after that... I’ll take the smith 10-1!

Get the 460, much more fun to shoot. The 500 loaded up pretty hot with anything bigger than a 300gr bullet is just brutal to shoot. I found some 700gr hard cast bullets to try in it though . Also, you can't shoot a 50AE out of a 500 or vice versa. Unless you meant the bullet itself as those are interchangeable. The 50AE case is smaller and doesn't have a lip for use in a magazine. I guess you could get some sort of moon clip like they use in .45ACP revolvers. An SW500 round won't fit at all in a DE though.

It’s not perfect but it is a 15yo Colorado so close is acceptable. For the money I wasn’t going to spend over a day on it

Hummm... I’m not sure then. I would have lost money on that. I could have swore he loaded from the same box. But that very well may explain the difference then. I’m gunna have to call him... this is gunna bug me.
