The banning of Lawn darts seems like a small thing, but it's really a microcosm of society and what's wrong with it. Assuming parents are doing their part (sadly, a dubious assumption at times) and not letting toddlers play with toys requiring more cognitive ability than they have, should 8 year old Johnny, who is too stupid to understand that a heavy, pointed object hitting him might cause damage, be allowed to survive?

Unfortunately, Johnny's parents were also "saved" from lawn darts, so rather than be smart enough to recognize that johnny really might just be dumber than average and steer him away from such things, they'd rather make all the kids with a lick of sense suffer, effectively making all kids as dumb as Johnny. Better to make everyone suffer than hurt someone's feelings.

And then they breed...
