That's funny...

I was watching an MTB video earlier today, filmed up in Page, AZ...near the Utah border. The trail in question was in an area called "Giraffe" or "Dead Giraffe" mesa. Guy making the vid asked a local why it was called that. I expected an answer like Poison spider mesa near Moab...IE a resemblance to a giraffe or something...but NO.

Apparently, someone obtained Micheal Jackson's Giraffe's with intentions of starting a wildlife refuge/tourist trap type thing near Page. The lease deal for land fell through, and there were accusations of neglect, ESPECIALLY after 2 of the 4 died. They were buried in a non-discloed location...though the location apparently isn't a secret to the locals, who dubbed the area "Dead Giraffe mesa".

Talk about messing with people who dig that area up in 1000 years...
