I think “Fine Malt Liquor” is false advertising 😂Cheers! Haven’t had a grenade in a while, not too badView attachment 456331
I don’t think so, it is fine malt liquor!I think “Fine Malt Liquor” is false advertising 😂
I would have bought that in an instant, for the pure history alone. Looks really good, great job!Oddball story of the week.
Early last year I was contacted by Basler Turbo Conversions and EAA (experimental aircraft association) to make a "cool" airplane themed piece of furniture. I collected parts from a plane Basler was tearing down to restore. The plane was Douglas C-47A KG503. Last summer's EAA air venture marked the 80th anniversary of Normandy and this plane dropped troops at Normandy in June of 1944. I initially was thinking 2 chairs and a small table but but the first chair threw me off and I quickly got discouraged.
Here's a few photos of the chair. Neat but not the look I was going for.

The event the item I was making was a formal dinner ($500/plate) and items were expected to sell for a lot. I went back to the drawing board, built a round die for my press to roll aluminum and went to work on something a bit more "modern industrial". Round 2 made me a lot happier. The steel frame turned out really cool and focuses your eye a bit more on the aluminum and the metal work. I'd never bucked a solid core rivet before (0/10 do not recommend) and I certainly didn't have another guy in my shop to help or hold the dolly. Anyhow, the charity event went well and the bench sold for $3900

Fast forward to November... this silly chair is still getting kicked around my shop and my enthusiasm for it hasn't increased. I tied the back to the seat a little better and put it on marketplace. As you can imagine, it wasn't a hot seller but I wasn't super motivated to get rid of it, until this week. I had a POC from a film studio reach out to me very interested in it and as of today it's paid for and headed to Chicago later this week. It'll be used for filming an upcoming TV show in February.
Kinda weird, kinda cool, definitely curious about what the scene turns out to be.
It was cool. About 20 of the Similar planes were in Oshkosh as both C47a military planes and DC3 civilian planes for air venture. My boys and I went in a few of them and walked under several of them to identify the rivet patterns from the parts we had. We noticed a few changes in the fuel tank sheet metal and we found a lot of the parts I used to build both the bench and chair.I would have bought that in an instant, for the pure history alone. Looks really good, great job!
Dammit man!!!! She said it was gonna be for a calendar to hang in the shop..🙄Not sure what to think of this, but @joeymt33 wife sent me a shirt with @JenElio on it…

That awsome! The history, all of it. So someone spent $3900.00 and told you to just keep it? Or did you buy it back?Oddball story of the week.
