I have a 2020 700 2 Standard model. Purchased it with the factory top, 1 piece windshield and a 4500# Warn winch kit all installed at the dealer. Bought it on 2-3-2020. Main use is 90% hunting and 10% work around the property.
I got to hunt out of it 3 times before my deer season ended on the 10th and I was impressed with it's performance. 1st trip out we encountered some of the worst muddy roads I have ever seen on my lease land. We have had 12" of rain since the 1st of February and the post oak mud will be clumpy riding in and soupy on the way out. It has yet to stop raining and I saw animals crossing the road 2 X 2 several days ago.
That said the Pioneer lacks mud protection, the front wheels throw it all over the sides of the doors and the rears all over the sides of the bed. Impossible to get in the cab or get something out of the bed without getting mud all over your clothes, gun, pack or what ever else you have. Only options I've found are the OEM front flares or 200 bucks of mud busters.
Well I decided to take matters into my own hands and found some hard plastic 3" sidewalk edging and made myself some rear mud guards. I installed them across the bottom of the bed sides with the same style OEM push pin clips. I also purchased a set of the OEM front flares and have a total of 120 in my set up. I tested them and they work perfect, knock 80% of the front tire throw. I'll fix them by adding a 6" strip at the very bottom of the flare to stop that last 20% sorta like a hanging flap there. The rear strips knock down 95% of the mud and I can live with that. 👍
What have others done to solve the flying mud???
