I have a New Holland TC33D that is similar HP/size/weight as your L3301. I did not like the NH 7308 loader, so ordered mine with the Woods 1012 Loader (slightly larger lift capacity and larger dump & rollback angles). The Wood loader is similar to what is on your L3301. My needs have grown over the years: I use it working in the woods a lot, and picking up some of the larger logs can be a challenge. I do like that it can get in to space where a larger tractor could never go, but the limitations do become an issue at times. I've had a lot of modifications done for working in the woods. I'd have to start over on those if I got a new tractor. I would also most likely want a larger brush hog and boxblade. My old 5' brush hog has been beat to death and really needs to be retired anyway

Over the past few years, I've been considering a Kubota L4701/L4802 or an MX5400. The L4701/L4802 only has about 500+ lbs greater lift capacity to full height than what I have now. The MX5400 has almost double the lift capacity (about 1100# more than my TC33D). The downside is that the MX5400 is physically bigger than I would like to go (almost 70" wide). The real kicker is that one of my favorite modification is the Limb Risers and Falling Object Protection. Adding them means I can no longer fold down the ROPS. At 95.7" tall, there is no way it will fit into my garage. Having a tough time deciding which way to go - or maybe just live with what I have now - I'm not getting any younger, and sooner or later I'll need to cut back on what I'm doing in the woods.

The Kioti that I bought used ( 500 Hr ) is a chicken house cleaning tractor smaller frame, 55 HP and larger lift capacities.

What did you buy?

I might consider a Kioti. Nearest dealer is 1/2 hour away. I know nothing about that dealer, so would need to research their reputation a bit.

Kioti DK5510, It has a dry shuttle wish it was wet. But no complaints so far.

If you decide to go Kubota, I’d recommend the MX over the L4802. Both are great tractors but, the MX is a fantastic tractor.

What's a "dry shuttle"? Is that a type of transmission using pulleys and belt drive?

The DK5510 or the 5010 looks like just about what I'm looking for: shorter, but powerful lift capabilities. Unfortunately, Kioti does not list them on their website. The DK4520/5020/5520 all show just under 97" tall (Ground clearance is actually 3/4" less on the 20 series, so it's not that they just jacked it up or put on bigger tires.)

I might have to look for a good used DK5010/5510

Check out TYM. I believe they're made in the same factory.

It's a new day in America. Suddenly, it has become very important to pay greater attention to the country of origin or country where a product is manufactured when making an important purchase like a tractor.

Kioti and JYM are South Korean manufacturers. Is the size tractor under consideration made in the USA? It could become important to know where a particular model is actually manufactured and what the tariff situation is. Also, where parts are sourced.

It might be wise to wait a month or more before making a big purchase to allow tariffs to settle.

I believe most countries that sell products into the US will negotiate if they currently charge high tariffs for US products in their countries. If they don't, their products and repair parts may become very pricey in the future.

A tractor that is cheap today could become an orphan if the country of origin has restrictions against importation of US products.

I'd consider TYM if there were dealers with a good reputation near me. The nearest dealer is about a hour away. I don't know much about them, but what I have heard is not exactly stellar. The next closest are far enough away that I would not even consider them.

The nearest Kioti dealer is a half hour away and a "5 Paw" level dealer. I don't know a whole lot about them, but what little I've heard seems OK.

Just got caught up on this thread....some good info. We have a BX2370 that we're quickly out growing. I consider it a "lawn tractor on steroids", we have the loader, mower deck, front blower, cab, etc. Still not sure if I'll trade it for a bigger unit or may keep it and get a skid steer w attachments. I'd like to have a loader wforks that can lift 2000 # and a grapple attachment

Find you an older backhoe with front hydraulic and quick connect bucket. Then you can do front attachments plus a backhoe.

@Robobrainiac - sorry for hijacking your thread.
No worries. I love discussion. That's why I start threads. I don't use social media. I like hearing the opinions of the great group of people @Hondasxs has brought together.

On a side note, I won't choose any other tractor brand than Kubota :p my wife and I make third generation Kubota owners.

After finally getting the opportunity to talk with our Kubota salesman in person after rescheduling 5+ times (the fault of our busy life) he came out to the house and toured our property and listened to our projects and goals. We decided a skid steer would serve our needs the best. Now it's up to us to determine our finances. Based on our expected project times we think a used machine will serve us best. We are going to work on obtaining a HELOC and then search for a machine that will serve our needs. Thank you to everyone for sharing their experience and opinions. I appreciate it.

Good luck with your search and purchase.

I'm impressed: a sales person who came out and walked your property and discussed your needs with you. If their service department is as helpful as their sales dept is, that's a dealer that is worth building a relationship with.

The original thought process was to trade our tractor in for a larger tractor for lift capacity purposes. Our L3301 has served us in every capacity we have needed it. It lacked being able to lift a round hay bale. It will do it but it doesn't like it one bit. Our problem with a larger tractor is that our property is currently designed for a small tractor. So all of our trails, our garden, our gates, pile barn storage, everything is small. To upgrade in tractor size would require extensive expansion of all of that. The larger tractor would have to live outside because it would not be capable of fitting thru the pole barn door. So overall a larger machine was not ideal. But we need lift capacity. My wife had the idea for a skid steer. I have never operated one and had many concerns about it fitting down the paths, will it get stuck, ect.. So our salesman came out to help us solve our problem and potentially evaluate the L3001 for trade in. All of that to say we are on team skid steer now.

Be sure to also make sure you get something with auxiliary hydraulics on it, opens up the door for so many more attachments. It's kinda like asking about favorite oil, but I really like foot control vs hand controls.

I assume the salesman also sells skid steers as well..

Be careful on the skid steer… they can cost a fortune…and the attachments aren’t cheap either.

With that said I have an older 30hp diesel Gehl skidsteer that has been awesome for my acreage cleaning.
