Any body vacationed on the coast in Maine, have any suggestions on where to stay? We've never been there, don't like big cities. Guess the Pionner will set this vacation out.

Lots of little towns up and down the coast. They do get very touristy.

When are you going and where will you be going?

Kennebunkport is pretty cool, plenty of places to get a good ( lobstah) or lobster roll, but like @elkguide said very touristy. Old orchard beach is the same way you just don't have to open the wallet as far as you do in Kennebunkport. Lol

Probably before or after the 4th of July, and where? I don't have a clue? But have always wanted to go and bug some Yankees

I lived just south of Boston for 12 months a couple years back. Acadia NP and Bar Harbor Maine are a must see! Cadillac mountian sunrise is an insiring event. Mount Wasington in the White mountians in NH are worth the drive. The Cog Railroad is very cool.
How long do you have set out for vacation?
Let me know if you need any other info.

Lived in Maine for 20yrs. Just travel Rt1. It caters to tourists. You can't really find a bad spot there if that's what you are into. Portland waterfront is awesome.. Dimillo's Restaurant is must do if you've never been to Maine. LL Bean's in Freeport is right on Rt.1 is a great place to spend a whole day, just bring your pocketbook cause it's a hunter/fisherman's dream. Look up the lighthouses on google, they are pretty awesome too. If you want to see the wildlife, (Moose), Millinocket or Greenville area is a good place to start. Seafood is second to none. Boothbay Harbor Co-Op is a great place to eat fresh lobster, clams, mussels, corn on the cob, etc. I miss living there. It was a great place to raise my kids.

I spent a week in Enfield, CT back in early 90s training on a new Jagenberg folder/gluer. I swear it was like visiting another planet. Not saying it was bad, just way different.

Connecticut? That's part of the south! Maine is nothing like that. It would be different to a hillbilly!:)
