Done. @jtw shared it on FB last night.

So why are the eco-nazis trying to close it? Some endangered worm nobody's ever seen?

We heard when we were out there in the fall that there were some locals upset about the noise. I would imagine this is just an angle that's more difficult to argue with than " I don't like the noise"

Loud exhausts have no place in our society today, tread quietly, on anything motorized. I despise loud! So do most.

I think this was written in jest but to be fair if I lived there I can understand how it would be annoying to hear people wind up belt driven machines all the time. I think the answer is probably just to stick to Honda CVT and it'll be much quieter right? 🤣🤣

The thing is you wouldn't shut down prostitution in Vegas because you didn't want to raise your kid around whores: you'd move. I don't think they'll have the backing for it because it would hurt the money and everybody knows that where the money goes so do the politics

Liberals can't do math, they want it to become some sort of artist's enclave or whatever . . . economy be damned.
the SWUA is a non partisan organization who’s most recent effort resulted in the John D. Dingell Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act of 2019 signed into law by president Donald Trump which protected 663,000 acres of land in Utah as a wilderness.

The best way that we all can protect and perpetuate the use of OHV trails is stay on the designated trails and pack out all of our trash. If you’ve ever done Moab trails then you’ve seen the tracks from SXS’s that regularly depart the designated trails, often right by signage to stay on the trail, as well as the disgusting amount of litter like beer cans chip bags, even disposable diapers that can be seen along the trail...

I was in Moab last month and there is a petition making it’s way around town which attempts to block SXS traffic from town as well due to unlawful use. One of the local SXS rental shop managers told me to please follow the rules in town and on the trail when we bring our group there later this year because SXS violations are threatening the existence of his business....

I have been to Moab a bunch of times and agree that there are people that are stupid. We don't need new laws, they just need to come down HARD on the people that break the Present laws. If the ones that want to get drunked up and race down the street late at night get ARRESTED and fined big time, they will move on to their next place to screw up. I have no problem with speed limits, noise limits, and designated roads, but don't ban it for those people who follow the rules.

The congestion in the town is getting worse when you add all the recreation people with the tourists for the big parks. They are building more hotels so more tourists will be staying over rather than going on after seeing parks. I am sure the locals are feeling overwhelmed at this point. It makes it easier for the "do gooders" who don't live there to get changes through and they won't have to live with the financial disasters that are caused by the changes. That area has no Tax base cause government owns 85% of the state.

Yeah, I totally agree yet it’s always the way. Unfortunately the bad actors aren’t held sufficiently responsible. And so it’s the squeaky wheel of those fed up with it that get s*** done.....🤔

That too is the way things go. The residents of Moab that don’t have a direct financial interest in the surrounding trails are the ones most inclined to be offended by the abuse of Moab’s gesture of allowing people direct access to the trail from their motel on their SXS....

Wow, glad I started searching other areas of this site other than the P500 forum. This is hard news to take. My group of riding friends have been going out to Moab from Michigan since 2006 - every 5 years. This year is our next planned trip in September. We will have a few first timers to Moab with us and Gemini Bridges, Golden Spike, Gold Bar Rim, Seven Mile Rim and Poison Spider are trails that we have rode every time we went out there. Love the views and rock formations as well as the challenging trails.

I forwarded this to my riding group so there WILL be more comments sent to the BLM.

Thanks for posting this SouthParkColorado!

My ...

Comment

Having SxS-ed, walked and simply driven to numerous areas around Moab for some 30 years, I am highly opposed to any removal of access to any particular area by any group. A group that is well funded, organized and, no doubt, agenda driven should NOT be allowed to rescind my or anyone's access to public lands. I personally leave nothing behind except tracks and take only memories and pictures. What should be considered and is quit obvious, is that these removals of public lands access will guarantee and even higher burden on what remains. The increased usage of remaining open lands will make them an easy target for the next round of shut downs. This is the real and mostly unrevealed [IMO] goal of these high sounding groups who use money and influence to shackle the American public. If one group is forbidden from usage and access, than make it into another Area 51, and remove all groups and usage. Equal access for all, or no access to anyone. NO special privileges for any favored group, none. Thank You.

Darn it, I just read this a couple days too late to provide input. Any updates on how this turned out?
Well, this is largely an ongoing issue and will remain a sort of tug of war between residents and environmentalists and land users...

As far as I know there are two courses of action that we all need to take in response to this current takeover of our lands, tell everyone you know to never vote for a democrat again EVER!!!. And when you are out enjoying the public lands make sure you pick up after yourselves and be courteous to the land and others that share this space with us, unless you do it gives the left leaning progressives the ammunition to get enough of their like minded socialists stirred up and you will lose the lands forever.
