My dad flew ag aviation for 30 years using Prat & Whitney radial engines designed for WWII. They were super simple to work on and maintain and were mostly reliable. Magneto failures were the common leak link. But those engines sounded SO GOOD! Yes, I'm an aviation nut, without a pilot license. I grew up around those Agcat airplanes but it wasn't meant to be for me.
Houston has a good aviation museum with WWII era airplane displays. Lone Star Flight Museum.
