So the new apple file extension for photos is .HEIC
Am I going to have to change them to jpg in order to post them on here?

Edit,
The solution is to change settings back to jpg.
  • Settings
  • Camera
  • Formats
  • Switch from "High Efficiency" to "Most Compatible"
That should fix it.

You can change it in the phone. I run an IT department and came across this a month ago Apple has changed their default format to .HEIC and Windows can't open it without additional software unless you have Windows 10 IIRC, I don't at work we are slowly migrating to 10.

Are you saying I can force it back to the old format?

EDIT: Found it. Done it. Thanks

I could allow that file type. But if most users cant see it.... then I'm not going to do it.
Hopefully you can revert back.

Yeah in the phone you can change the format back to jpeg, if anyone else runs across this with a new or recently updated iPhone they can change it back to a more standard file format.

They wouldn't be able to unless they have Win10 but I can't confirm that 100% I haven't tried to open a HEIC file with my home machine. I will try and report back if it works.

Can you tell us where you made the change? I'm sure this will come up again.
Thanks.

Mines actually set to HEIC but I guess it’s converting to jpeg when I upload.

Was just going to say that. I’ve had this iPhone X since last January and it’s ben in the HE setting since I got it. I’ve loaded probably 2 dozen or more pics on here with it in that setting without problems.

I tried it and got an message that said something about a format that it would not accept. It was easy to convert them to jpeg, but it was an extra step.

BTW: I downloaded CopyTrans onto my PC. Converting (making a copy) the files from HEIC to JPG is fast and simple.
