My name is anthony and i am a new owner of a 2016 pioneer 1000-5 side by side as of 24 hours ago. I am definantly elbow deep in honda now. Today i have it apart just about as far as you can go. Lol. I bought it with the engine locked up and im currently learning all about the Honda Pioneer 1000 first hand. Hope to maybe pick some brains later if i get stuck during reassembly.

Everything and I mean everything in that engine needs to be clean if its been under water. If you hesitate for a minute about replacing something that could potentially be full of debris, replace it, including the clutch assemblies. They might look clean, but the fibers can hold things.

Also check the emergency valve for scratches and burs, replace it and the clutch cover if they are scored. It can cause all sorts of headaches.

Oh and if you remove the seat rail you don't have to cut that bar out, lol.

The clutch does not look good. The engine was full of fuel and other liquid. Main bearings look good. Someone took the cam and ditched the cam caps so it looks like im gonna have to get a head.... Sad story since this head is in such good shape. Will need rings and a good honing. Ill replace the rod bearings just cause its already apart as well. Ill clean out the clutches snd check them later on.

Welcome to the forum from da U.P. eh!

Good luck on the resurrection, keep us updated on your progress.

The project will be on hold for a week or two because I just spent 1000 dollars on Brute force engine parts. That should come in later this week and I have to get that engine off my table before i can really dig into this one. lol.

Flywheel tool came in yesterday so i was finally able to get the broken flywheel bolt out that someone screwed up. Waiting on the parts now to put the engine back together... May be able to drive my pioneer for the first time by next weekend... We will see.

Anyone got a good Pioneer 1000 connecting rod laying around? Or know the right person on here to contact about getting one?

Don't know how I missed this! But WELCOME from NW Arkansas! Tires are worn out how many miles on your buggy? Did the previous owner drown your buggy?
