I was very interested in purchasing a Honda Pioneer 700 in 2014 and looked at all the forums comparing it to the Polaris Ranger 570 midsize. I bought the Polaris for a few reasons if I recall the Honda did not have a turf mode and if I remember correctly the seating position for my size 12’s was more comfortable in the Polaris. I was also concerned that the 700 did not have a low range.

While the Polaris has served my needs fairly well I want to move into something with power steering that my wife can operate. The lack of power steering and the occasional problem with hard starting when hot have been the only issues I’ve experienced with the Polaris. But in 6+ years I’ve only put about 1000 miles on it.

I am now considering the Pioneer 1000-3 because of the turf mode and power steering. The cost by the time the windshield, winch, roof and back panel are added seems to be considerably more than some competitors. Yeah I know, but it’s a Honda.

I’ve also researched the Yamaha Wolverine X2-850 XTR but doubt if my 72 year old body of 6’ and 270 lbs will be a good fit. I know it doesn’t have a 1000 cc engine or turf mode and that is a consideration but not as much as it was in 2014. I do like the adjustable shocks and the more standard features. I don’t like the look of the Viking but have not completely ruled it out.

Looks like the P700 is Pretty much what I recall it was in 2014. Have they made many changes? Why no turf mode?

Anyways, I’m still in the research stage and have read lots of good information on this forum. I doubt that I would buy another Polaris. Some of you guys have presented such great information that I just want to thank you for helping me choose.

I bought my 2018 1000-3 in October. I‘ve put almost 700 miles on it. Its a great machine. Have completed a round trip of the 100 mile long Great Rivers Trail in Wisconsin with it. Comfortable ride.

Welcome from the mud holes of WNY. You’re guess is as good as mine why Honda doesn’t put the turf mode on the 7hundo. I do appreciate that they keep costs down by keeping it simple. 😎
