I just put a 2500lbs winch on my 700 that I had off my atv I traded in and was wondering if I decide to put on a 4500lbs winch if I'll have to change the wiring and contactor. From looking on the winch manufacturers websites they only sell one set of wires and contactor.

Realtree,
Generally, no. It should be fine.
But take a look at the wires. If the 45 wires are larger, then I would have to recommend changing them. Most likely the will be the same. The contactor will be fine. Save the new one for a backup.

Realtreegrizzly, I went from a warn 2000 to a warn 4000 and the wires and contactor were NOT the same. Wires for the 4000 were heavier gauge and contactor was bigger. What I would recommend, and what I will do eventually, is mount the big winch on the front and the little one on the rear, assuming you do have to change out wires and contactor like I did.

Yep.. change them.
Old and newer warn 2000 uses 8g wire.
4500 uses 6g.

KFI sells the exact same wire for all their kits.

You don't want to put a undersized wire if it overheats and burns through, there is no fuse to blow and it could burn the whole thing to the ground. There is a lot of power stored in that little battery.

Hopefully it's because they use the heavier wire on the small ones not lighter wire on the big ones!

Not sure about others but the KFI wire is 6ga for all winches. So far I've had no issues out of it.
