P1000 P1000-5 measurement needed please

Hey guys, I'm purchasing a new P1000-5 soon from a dealer a long ways away. The measurement I need is from the most forward part of the machine (bumper, I'm assuming) to the contact patch of the rear tires. I have a long bed RAM Mega Cab, but it has an auxiliary fuel tank installed in the box. So I'm trying to decide if I will have enough room to drive the Honda over the fenders, up to the fuel tank, and still have the rear tires on the tailgate? Also, if you could tell me how high off the ground that furthest forward point is? Possibly it might go above my fuel tank giving me a few extra inches? The fuel tank is about 2" below bed height of the pickup.

It's about 9'. I'd trailer it if I was you though. I think they're pretty heavy to be resting on a fuel tank bouncing down the road

That's why I'm wanting the measurement, I DON'T want it resting on the fuel tank, or even rubbing up against it scratching paint for that matter. I figure the front wheels will be sitting slightly in front of / on top of the fenders, I can even put some 6x6 blocks in to raise it up, putting the front bumper of the machine over the fuel tank, but not touching. But I don't know if / how much that will be necessary with the rear wheels sitting on the tailgate.

I get that but it's a lot of weight on those cables of the tailgate too.

8'-1" from front bumper to center of rear tire.

Abernathy sells some nice trailers too! Several people drive in and pick up a combo.

However, you can go down the road an hour and a half or so South right outside of Milan TN and get a very good trailer for a very decent price. If you are interested, I can PM you their contact info.

I would really be hesitant to haul that on the back of a truck, especially tilted up like that. I figure that roof/underside of the unit would be acting like a drag chute all the way back to MT although having a full cab might mitigate that some.

1700 lbs?? Good grief! I was thinking maybe 1200, that would be a lot of weight to put on the tailgate. I have a nice 14' aluminum flat bed atv trailer, it just rattles like crazy when it's empty as there is maybe 50lbs of tongue weight. I'll just put a couple hundred pounds of sand bags on the front of the deck and toss em when I get to the dealer, at least that way it won't rattle.

And keep in mind that is without anything added but fluids. Put a winch and skids and other stuff and it is even more. I can definitely tell that I am towing something when it is on the trailer.

Might also look around and see if anyone is needing something hauled from your area to somewhere on your route down that would fit on your trailer. Might pay for some of your gas.

The problem I believe you'll have is getting it through the back of the bed where the tailgate closes. New trucks are a lot more narrow there then the older ones. We carried our in a 92 Cummins no problems till a ramp broke and it waisted the gate and a boxside. Newer bodies I believe you'd have to drive over the box sides to get it in so please check for that. Once strapped in the new dodge gates will hold that weight as long as you're not crazy over bumps but it will be sitting towards the back so I'd at least do a diamond plate rear cover if you plan on continuous carry that is if it goes. If you need any more measurements I can help in the am.

Long bed mega cab!? The short box is my only knock on my truck. When I bought it in 07, that small crew cab ran offered was very small. Always enjoy people's reaction when they see how mega the mega cab is. Who did u have do the conversion? Do they just change bed or actually add on to frame?

I had it done by Longbedmytruck in Salt Lake. I definitely do NOT recommend them. I've heard they are actually out of business now. I found out after the fact the original mechanic who worked for them left and started his own company which is still going strong. It's also in the Salt Lake area. Can't recall the name of that one.

Anyway, they stretch the frame and put on an 8' box. I also put in a Kelderman full air ride system which I do recommend.
