First time posting and I'm looking for feedback (positive, negative, sarcastic, etc) from those who have made the swap, own both, or have owned each. I have a 2018 P1K5 LE that I'm thinking about either selling outright (best option) or trading it in at the dealership for a Talon. If i do make the swap, I've got my eye on a 2024 Talon 1000R, but I have been giving the 4 seater some consideration as well. Just looking for the likes/dislikes and pros/cons from members who have experience with both.

If you wear crocs or enjoy a nice latte, it's gonna be right up your alley.

Milk and sugar is the best way to ruin a good cup of coffee. Only thing I ever add to mine is a finger or 2 of jameson when it's good and cold outside. Unfortunately I am guilty of slipping on a pair of crocs nowadays. But that's only when I kick off the dirty steel toes to toss them in the bed of my truck.

DO it! You will have zero regrets other than losing the utility side of the Pioneer

Like comparing a motocrosser to a dual sport bike - both have their advantages/disadvantages - it’s about what you want to use it for

I owned a pioneer for all of 3 days of riding , brand new, unloaded in WV with 2 miles on it , put 180 miles on at Hatfield McKoy - it went everywhere as expected - coming off a RZR XP - just wasn’t my cup of tea - wanted a little sportier ride.

Good luck in your decision.

The utility side was the reason I bought the Pioneer instead of the Talon to begin with. Said utility side has only really been used once since I bought the bike, to haul a deer from the back of the property, which could've easily been put in the front end loader of my tractor or the back of my truck, so I doubt I'll miss having that. To be fair to the bike though, I only put on about 100 of the 780ish miles that are on it. The rest were put on by my little nieces and nephews being rode around the property while i was gone back to west Texas for work. Which would you recommend though, the 2 seater or the 4 seater?

A sportier play bike is the direction I'm leaning as well nowadays. I've barely used the bike in general and I've used it zero times for what I intended whenever I purchased it. Love the bike and have no issues with it whatsoever. Ijust feel the Talon might be a better choice for if or when I have the time to actually go for a ride.

Hello and welcome to the club. I currently own both, a 2018 P1KD5 and 2024 T1KX-LV. I opted to keep my P1K when I got the Talon and that may have been the best decision ever. I ride with my pups everyday in the Pioneer and only ride the Talon with my wife. Since I own a 2 seater, I cannot give you much advice on a 4 seater. I have ridden with 4 seaters and they are a bit on the long side. Riding some of my preferred areas in the Black Hills, my groups have had to wait on the long wheel based machines and help with navigation and helping get these rigs off of being high centered. Again, they ride and drive nice, just know that technical trails can get really tight quickly with the 4 seater. The area you like to ride matters, so if you are a pavement/gravel road person, a sand/desert rider, or just like forest service trails, the vehicle won't matter. In the end, unless you have something very specific your trying to ride that will have limitations, a 2 or 4 seater will bring you the same satisfaction. Get out and just do some riding, preferably with friends, you will be surprised how many people here are willing to get out ride with strangers, then become lifelong friends. Happy trails and good luck.

Depends on your needs. I got a 2 seater for the sport of it as my kids are graduated or about to graduate college. They don’t have time to play. I have no regrets.

Just my .02
I have owned an P1k-5 LE, a 2 seat TalonX and now a Talon R4. If you dont need the utility I would go with the Talon 4 seater.
After purchasing the R4 the 2 seater was not my 1st choice for trail riding anymore. There is plenty of room for 4 adults and the machine is pretty nimble. The X has a little shorter turning radius and is a few inches narrower.

I kept the '21 P1K5 Deluxe and added the '23 T1K2-FLV. Two completely different machines. Piney was totally revamped for the trails (i.e., complete suspension replacement), but it now gets tons of use around the house/property/lake as a utility vehicle doing utilty things. If I had my druthers, I would have gone 4 seater on the Talon, but wifey preferred the 2 seater, and we all know how that works. If you're thinking more trail than utility use, definitely go Talon and definitely go 4 seater unless there are underlying reasons you can't.

Thanks everyone for the input because it definitely helped me make up my mind. Not that I ever have the time for a ride, but whenever a free day shows up, I do believe the Talon will be better suited. Even though I only need the 2 seater, it's just me and my girlfriend and our dog refuses to ride in a sxs, there have been a few rare occasions where the backseats in my pioneer have been used so I've decided to go with the 4 seater. Luckily, she's just a passenger princess that doesnt care if its 2 seats or 4 seats as long as it has music and a cup holder for her drink. I've also spent a good bit of time checking out other members Talon builds on the 4 seater and gotten a few ideas there. The only other questions I have are 1) should I go with an X or R model 2) should I get the FLV or is the Showas ok? Bike size isn't a factor where I'll be riding if or when I have the chance. The trails are plenty wide enough. Seen quite a few Uforce 1000 XLs, a couple P1K6s, and a couple Defender Max HD10s navigate them with ease. As for the shocks, it'll just be the rare occasion of leisure riding. During spring, summer, and fall it's rare I see a day off and even rarer that I see my own house in the daylight unless we get a good bit of rain. Last question I have is what would be a fair price to ask for my bike if I sold it outright instead of trading it in? I'll have to look this evening to find out the exact mileage, but at most it has 780 miles on it. Very few upgrades. Front roof bought from and installed by the dealer the day I bought the bike. Dual battery isolator installed by the dealer. I installed the larger cup holders i saw multiple members post about. PBR dash panel switch plate with 3 power accessory slots ( 2 have digital voltmeters with usb-c charging installed) and 8 rocker slots (1 has the rocker installed for the soundbar). I also have the heat shield and fan kit for underneath the seat, but still in the packaging because I haven't had time to install. I had the dealer remove the back half of the roll cage the day I bought it, but I still have it and all the bolts stored in my shop. I attached the only 2 pics of the bike I have. The pic of the bike dirty is from the only ride I've ever taken it on, which was back in July of this year. When it's not being used, it's stored in the shop that's seen in the other pic.

I really like my talon R 4-seater. I'm at 7,800 and some miles. It's better than I thought it would be. I fixed the air filter intake with the 10-80 tube and replaced the rear tender springs at around 4,000 miles. It does handle better at speeds above 35 mph. My 2019 2-seater handles better at speeds below 35 mph. The Fox Live Valve works great. Hopefully the 2025 will have a red Talon R with the high-end Showa shocks like the Kawasaki.

I made the switch, but had both for a little while. Overall I am really glad I went to a sport machine. I did just about everything I could to the Pioneer to sport it up, Elkas, TTC lift, bucket seats, etc but at the end of the day it was still a workhorse at heart. I kept up and went everywhere but the Talon makes the ride so much easier, but yet familiar. When I sold my Pioneer it had around 4000 miles over 3 1/2 years, mainly the last two I got in to trail riding. However in the first 10 months of the talon Im over 2000 miles. Low mile count for those around here but shows that we get out ride the Talon more. 250 mile days have been racked up no problem.

This video might help too, the Talon isn’t perfect, but for now it’s my main squeeze and will be for a while.

Everyone on here has gone Talon. I'm a truck guy more than a buggy guy, so I'll stay with my P1K5.

If I was going with a balls to the wall buggy, I'm not sure the Talon would be my first choice.
