i bought my 2022 P520 used in 2023. Went to check the coolant level today. Removed the hood and can see the radiator, but it appears the coolant "reserve tank" is buried under a plastic bin that is bolted down inside the hood compartment. I can barely see the reserve tank underneath it, let alone see the level in it (if I'm even looking at the right thing). The manual makes no mention of this bin or needing to remove it to check and fill the coolant level. IF the bin were not there, the under hood area would be useless for storing things.

Is this an aftermarket addition, or am I just missing something obvious? Seems like a pain in the butt to have to remove this bin just to check and fill the coolant level (especially since I'd likely have to disconnect some of the wiring to the winch controls/receiver to remove the bin.)

Sorry for the poor description. If needed, I'll try to get a picture or two next time I'm out there.

Pics always help. The bin is an accessory (aftermarket or Honda) not part of every machine.

That's what that bin is for, to make use of the under hood area for storage. Some swear by it or the one you can get for under the drivers seat but throwing a box in the back holds a lot more than those areas can and you don't have to take the machine apart to access it. I'd personally take it out to make room for power steering and such but...

Go to the right side, look under the fender.
There is a rubber flap in front of the frame and behind the shock absorber, lift the flap.
(let go of the flap and go find a flashlight)
Behind the flap is the radiator reservoir - and whoever set this up made sure the coolant level marks are visible from the fender.

FYI, the OEM under hood cargo box is held in with quick release push pins.
They have a tab that can be pulled up with out tools.
So it's still a little bit of a pain to check the water in the res but it is doable.
(the cargo box was probably designed by the same guy as the radiator/coolant res after he was transferred between departments)
