Thanks in advance - a buddy has a P700 that he says downshifts hard. Was this ever a problem with the P700, and is there a fix? Or is it normal to capitalize on engine braking?

Thanks,

Waylan

I don’t know if it was a problem but mine shifts up and down smooth. How many miles are on it? The engine braking is around 9mph.

It's very low mileage.........does the engine braking come on hard around 9mph?

Thanks for the reply!

I’d say it brings it down to around 9mph. If the oil is good, he’s probably good. Putting miles on it only makes it better. It’s all gears and shafts. You learn to drive with the pedal. It wakes up around five hundred miles or so. The 7hundo is solid. Now if he’s hearing clunking or banging, then he should check it out. 😉😎

Closed throttle...like coasting into a corner, it would be a bit jerky going down. Likewise, climbing a grade and having it downshift would usually throw a bit of roost as it grabbed, but in that situation it kinda had to. Always thought the 700 shifted quite well.

It depends on his definition of shift hard, my 700 would shift down good but if trying to slow down quick it may seem like it’s a hard shift. It’s probably normal, the 700 tranny is tough.
