I finally got sick either dragging my dewalt jobsite radio out or just going without tunes for long enough. After gathering some goodies, a little shopping sprea on amazon, and tugging on @ohanacreek s ear for a bit I set out to make me some permanent tunes.
After shopping the internet for something affordable (to thats a tough one) and not finding anything I liked, it was time to build. Not wanting anything on my dash because my dogs like to put their front feet up there as we ride, and remembering seeing @ohanacreek set up in his old 700 thats what I wanted. My basic shape cut from 1/4" underlayment
Then I ripped some 1/2 plywood in 1 1/2" strips and gave it some rigidity.
rounded the corners with a chunk of 2x4 and started laying out for the radio mount, I'll be using an Infinity PRV250 for the radio
Then Layed out the speaker mounts, beefed up the radio mount and rounded off the top edge of everything
and a quick test fit
I picked up two (but only needed one) of these at walmart,
and stretched it over the whole thing and stapled it to the sides
now the fun part, coating it all with fiberglass resin, I did get any pictures of the process, just the after affects
I was really suprised how strong the fleece blanket and resin had become. I've got more to come, need to upload more photo's.
