Re: Moab Dec 31 2013

If you click on the link, there are a few videos. Loving the Pioneer! But I do still wish there was a lower first gear. So many times, I ran out of power in Moab (4,000-5,000 feet elevation) and had to "bump" to get over obstacles. I don't need 43mph top speed... 35 would be plenty fast with a lower first gear. Are you listening Honda?

Manly bug. What a awesome area to go riding in. I would love to live close enough to take a trip out there. I really did not expect Moab to have any snow. But it does help add come color and make one wonderful riding area.
Thank you so much for sharing that with the community. The members will enjoy your experiences.

I hope you dont mine, I edited your post a little and promoted it to the front page.
Also, I going to pull some of these vid's and images in since there is not any options for Photobucket videos.

Thanks! It was a fun trip and the Pioneer was incredible overall. Definitely a remarkably capable and tough machine.

Nice vids. I love Moab. Was there last winter in the snow with a rental Jeep on Chicken corners. Epic sight...snow on red rocks.

BTW...you might want to think about letting some of the air out of your tires. Would definitely help traction. And ride. And since they look pumped up to like 20PSI, it would also effectively lower your gearing to let some out as well. Really, the 10/12 in the manual is too much. I'm at 7/8 front/rear, and could go lower.

The videos were great! Riding Moab is on my bucket list. I'm still on the fence if I'm going to purchase a P4 or not so seeing them in action is great education for me. Thanks.

I agree with the air pressure. I let all four of my tires down to 7 psi and I can not believe the difference it made in handling the way it rides and the ability to crawl up and over rocks.

After seeing the video's of Moab and already having Cabin fever (sick of the bad air and really cold temps in Northern Utah), a trip to Moab would sure fix my winter Blu's. I'm thinking heading south to Moab for the weekend. Great Video's and I'm glad to see the Pioneer handle the slick rock. We definitely need to do a Moab ride this Spring for any HondaSXS members / Honda SXS owners. For the most part, Moab is dominated by modified Jeep's and Polaris RZR's. I'd love to see the heads turn as a few dozen Honda Pioneers going drive through the town- something Honda should Photograph. On spring break trips, I've seen the Polaris video production team (tractors trailers) in town doing production video shoots of their new machines and letting people ride their latest machines. When Honda finally introduces a new Sport SxS , it would be awesome to see it introduced at the Moab spring break, and hopefully offer test rides.
