P1000 Pricing a 1000-5 and lack of color

I'm looking for a 2017-18 Pioneer 1000-5. I won't even look locally for a 1000, due to it being NC and having to pay the in state sales tax. That, and most of the nearby dealers are jerks to put it lightly. I got my 500 in Tennessee and saved some cash so I thought I'd do the same and look there for a 1000. The shop I bought my 500 from is in Greeneville and they're a low volume store. So, I'm not gonna see much, if any deals on price breaks. Southern Honda in Chattanooga at 3.5 hours away want $13,800 but only have a red one. Abernathy in union city 7.5 hours away want $13,040 and only have a red one as well. I really seriously dislike the color red and I don't care that it's the Honda color. Ordering new plastics is $400+ more as well as it takes a long time to switch them out. All the models are pretty much the same from 2016 forward. One guy said buy a 2019 and get a green one for 2k more. That was very laughable. A 1000 isn't looking very probable. I'm not budging on Red either. There are no more 2017's available either.

Tennessee doesn't charge tax if u live outside of Tennessee. Most states dont charge tax unless u live there but it's your responsibility to pay the tax in your state. Which is bulls*** in my book. I've gotten away with it in the past but they are starting to bust people now. A guy I work with went to Ky an purchased an can-am and didn't pay taxes on it. About 10 months later got a tax bill in the mail from the state of Tennessee.

I bought my 1000-5 at Hinderer- wouldn't do it again. They had no idea who I was when I showed up after verifying appointments with multiple people. Said the guy that quoted me the price was fired and did honor it, but gave me some grief over it. Literally non existent after the sale. A salesman reached out after like 6 months to try to sell me something else, I asked him a recall question and he said he would get back to me- never did.

Def wouldn't consider driving from NC to deal with them.

And even though the Deluxe model lists for $1000 more than base Abernathy’s sells deluxe for only $500 more. Site shows yellow available in deluxe.

Have you called Greenville to check on prices or see what they have that might not be on there website? I was in there a couple weeks ago and they had several more than just the 3 1000s i saw on their website.

I bought my 1000 from them back in July. I believe they were within about $400 of the cheapest I could find at the time so I bought from them since there only about 30 minutes from my house. I've been back in there several times since and they have always been very friendly and helpful.

Only way you wont pay sales tax in NC is to never title the unit. Good luck selling it down the road with no title.

I get permits every year to each state I ride in just by producing the bill of sale from the dealership. NC doesn't title or register ATV'S SXS'S.
I've gotten OHV permits in Arizona, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah using the bill of sale. In Georgia and South Carolina it's very common to just get a bill of sale without a title in relation to cars trailers etc.... If I can manage to move to Idaho soon, I will register it there.

If you are not intersted in the side door panels of the deluxe, I just changed mine over to the 2016 silver metallic for about $125 for just the hood and fender. It is actually a pretty simple swap, that I'm a little embaressed to say, my wife did in under an hour. She was tired of waiting on me and wanted to ditch the yellow. Might be an option. We did the full deluxe kit for $285

What do you want for the yellow plastics?

I was actually very surprised, but we got them sold before we got home. My wife sent her dad a picture of it on the trailer and told him we were going to change the color. He was kind of like the original poster and said he didn't much care for the red he got last fall. Well long story short she's a pretty good sales woman. I was pretty careful not to ride to much and get them dirty and scratched before I took them off, but it's game on now.

Don't know why but I like the yellow, black graphics would really pop!
