I bought a Rugged Radio RMV 60 watt, brand new in the box , never installed, never been powered up, it doesn't work for me in the woods. Paid over $ 300 make me an offer!

From what I understand VHF works the best for line of site communication ?

Never installed it, still in original box and packaging. Never registered for warranty. From what I've been told there the ticket out West? Or flat terrain.

Made to use in flat lands, supposed to be the berries for places like Florida and out West, in the mountains you need to have the ability to bounce radio signals off the atmosphere to get over the mountains?

It is VHF only where the one I posted and a few other I will have soon cover both VHF and UHF (which can include GMRS frequencies).

Having both will allow you more options in a pinch to hit a repeater (if you have them programmed or know the frequencies).

In general, VHF has seen broad acceptance in the West while UHF has been more widely accepted in the East
