So I got the SATV rear windshield and I lt works great in reducing the vortex dust from re-entering the cab. However I soon realized that it’s literally at my eye level when it’s open and while I try to be careful around the rig when it’s open, today I had to haul some dirt and sod in the machine and the rear windshield got really annoying fast as it was in the way every time I was trying to shovel dirt into the bed.

Is there any way to get the windshield to open (or keep it) higher? Also for those of you who own this windshield, are your dampers shooting the windshield up super aggressively as well? I thought they would “break” in a bit but they still shoot up way fast compared to my SATV front split windshield…

I moved the cage pivot point up 1/2” (ignore the 2nd hole) and fabbed a angle bracket for the windshield to move the pivot away from the windshield ~1/2” and back towards the cage ~1/2” to get a 5’-10” high opening. I am going to trim the excess off angle bracket when I get the time. I don’t even know the length of the bracket as it was a scrap piece I just cut in half. I am a full time care giver now for a family member and don’t have the shop time I use to have. The unintended benefit of this mod is the strut is slightly over-center when closed with helps keep the windshield closed.
Edit: it also reduces the mechanical advantage of the strut which calms it down

You could try going up a full inch and see if the strut will handle it(my 2nd hole) as I didn’t, I ran out of time.
