Had a warm afternoon, so I figured I would finally add a few safety switches.
.
Just bypassing the seatbelt switch would not accomplish what I needed.
.
Things I wanted my switches to do:
1) Me riding around my farm, no seatbelt, no speed limit. (No Lock, Bypass)
2) Me riding trails or gravel roads, seatbelt, no speed limit. (No Lock, No Bypass)
3) Teenagers riding around my farm, seatbelt, 12mph speed limit. (Lock, Inop. Bypass)
4) Other adults riding around my farm, no seatbelt, 12mph speed limit. (No Lock, No Bypass)
.
Using the seat belt governor was the perfect EASY solution.
Hooking into the seat belt wiring, green and grey wires, under the seat was simple.
.
These are the switches I used to make it happen.
1) a keyed lock on off switch, key comes out either position.
2) a latching on off push button switch
.
Here is where I mounted them. Driver side.
.
.
Here is how they work.
.
.
With the Lock open, it makes the seat belt switch and the bypass switch inoperable.
So, if they happen to push the bypass, the vehicle will still only do 12 mph.
.
.
Sometimes adults ask to drive, "I don't need a seat belt."
All I do is touch the seat belt bypass, without them knowing, and now only 12 mph until they put on their seatbelt.
.
.
Have a good day
