Living in the south, I could not see purchasing a windshield that would only open a couple of inches in the summer when you need the air. However, in our cooler times or when I come across spider webs on trails, I wanted something that could block air. I purchased the SuperATV flip windshield knowing that I would need to mod the mounts on the bottom for hood access. I bought hinges at ACE that were the approximate width of the mounts. My neighbor actually did the welding for me so I have no knowledge to share on that part of the process, other than he trimmed the length of the hinges before welding. But the result is exactly what I wanted. I haven't decided on how to secure the bottom yet so will just be using zip ties in the meantime.
The picture of the full windshield is before the mod. You can see there is plenty of space on the mount to weld the hinge on. Also, when flipped up, the windshield stays in that position while the hood is removed.
