My Talon brake pads need replacing at 33,000 miles. They cost around $400 for a front and rear set. I check them every 5 thousand miles. I don't use the brakes very often with the excellent decel braking. Occasionally I lock them up just before an unseen washout. I always let off the brakes just before the dip for full travel and to prevent bottoming out the suspension. .

Are the Talon pads the same size as the P1000? That looks like a rear brake, single piston.

I recently read that they're the same size and the P1K's are considerably less expensive but don't really have a way to confirm it. If they're a lot less $$, it would be worth it, even if they wore a little faster.

The part numbers are different for the pads and caliper. HL6 is a Talon number.

The originals lasted about 1500-1800 miles, ordered some cheap organics (I was in a hurry and needed them fast) they lasted about 800 miles, this last set was some EBC "Race" pads.....whatever that means, they're still holding up but I'll probably be ready for another set this winter.
