Code meltdown spectre 2

New info discovered by Google's Project Zero team back in the summer of 2017 pretty much says that all of today's computer are no longer secure. Not necessarily a problem with the computer software but the actual computer itself. How it's made and how it works. This new vulnerabilities effects everything from your computer, cell phone, car, thermostats to baby monitors. Currently there is NO SOLUTION. The only good news the tech giants can offer is that "it's hard to do". But luckley, they provide examples. lol.

So far, they have identified two techniques that allow a hacker to gain access to your computer irrelevant to the software used. They are called Meltdown and Spectre. Without getting too deep its best your read it from the source.
Google's Project Zero Team -->
Project Zero: Reading privileged memory with a side-channel

A little more simpler explanation -->
Kernel panic! What are Meltdown and Spectre, the bugs affecting nearly every computer and device?

Try to beak this down in more simple terms.
Imagine you lock your wallet up in the glove box of your car. You park in the secure and gated parking lot at work. All I need to do is get access to the parking lot and with this "code" every car I touch unlocks.
Now, apply this to a computer server farm. I have access to EVERYTHING. Bank cards, Stock accounts, Passwords, Credit reports, to criminal records. Even better, What if I could access this from home?

What does this mean.
Currently, they don't have a clue. But what is going to come about this is a new version of a computer processor. Thus sky rocketing these new units for years and making the computer/cell phone you just bought outdated starting today. Oh, did I mention this new processor hasn't even been invented yet.

Will there be a solution.
Maybe... Not yet... No one really knows currently. The major computer companies Intel, AMD, and ARM have issued "workarounds" but no hard solutions. Again remember that's because the issue is the product itself and how it works, not what it does or how it thinks. The only real fix is replacing your processor with one that has not been invented yet.

So until then, stay safe!

Working in tech nothing is 100% safe that's why your home pc always needs updates. As vulnerabilities are found they are patched. If you read the article you have to be at the machine to pull this off not remotely so technically there is nothing to worry about my servers at work are behind 2 locked doors and only 2 people have keys me being 1 of them. Someone would have to risk going to prison breaking into one to touch my servers (I do I.T. for a prison). Take off the foil hats there's nothing to really worry about.
