At idle when I engage the tranny to either forward or reverse there is a fairly substantial clunk, more or less from time to time. Is this normal? Thanks, G

I think it's fine. hard to be positive without actually hearing it but a little clunk is normal in my experience

Has happened to me when cold. Have gone to lighter oil Honda 5W-30 but last time I changed (new box of oil) it clunked a bit during colder (10 degree F) starts and also had experience where it wouldn't shift at 12mph and 22-23 mph so switched to Amsoil 0W-40 and the transmission is smooth and shifts more solidly and on correct speed (normal non-aggressive driving)
