Another sad example of the few screwing it up for the many. It happens in shooting, hunting, mountain biking, skiing, boarding, whatever. The tool is different but the TOOL is the same.
Yeah. A few bad actors are giving everyone a black eye. The frustrating thing is that the kids' parents are defending their actions. When someone complains about their 13 or 14 year old going 50 MPH in a 30 zone, riding wheelies down the street, or flying out of a ditch in front of cars on the road, the parents are likely to respond with "kids just need to have some fun" or "well, our town has no where to ride, so they have to go somewhere".

One of the reasons or town has no where to ride is that their unsafe, inconsiderate behavior and the damage to others' property has turned off the landowners who might otherwise have allowed it.

They can be registered in AZ.
They are supposed to have working lights, a mirror, a horn and dot tires to be registered. If you don't have these, and the wrong cop pulls you over on the wrong day, he might cite you.
Otherwise no road or interstate restrictions. But I'd stay off the interstates - too many former California's driving like they are still in LA.
Some smaller cities have noise ordinances that are actually enforced but I don't know of any that ban atvs or utvs.

You can get plates in Ohio by printing inspection form and change title to underspeed vehicle. You are limited to roads posted 35 mph and less. Not all title bureaus are friendly to this. 1st one told me " your not getting that done here " went next town over and had new title and plates in 15 minutes. By the way the 1st place isn't there any more. Screenshot 20250105 043632 DrivePXL 20240501 140846185 01COVER3

Washington state has limited street-legal side by side access for on-road use, all of the on road accessible riding is 35 mph max and is allowed via city ordnances (but that doesn't mean all 35 mph roads are available for use in a street legal side by side so be careful where you drive).
Legally they make it kind of confusing, but in many rural areas many drivers don't pay close attention to the rules and they ride where ever they want - enforcement is lax from what I have seen...

It’s definitely confusing here in WA. I pretty much drive where I want in my area and haven’t been hassled. Neighbors pretty much do the same. The county hasn’t updated their road map/list in 10 years and it just seems like nobody cares.

In addition there's a new law that goes in effect in AZ. this year. You will now be required to watch a 10 min video on off road usage then take a 20 question multiple choice test before you can register or purchase the required off road sticker from the state. You can do this online or at the nearest motor vehicle office.

In Oklahoma it also varies by county. I think most counties don't care as long you are behaving yourself. I drive county roads a lot, and usually get a big wave when I meet when I meet a Law Enforcement Officer. The Tax commission gives you a sticker when you register your ATV/UTV (you don't even need to register if you are using it for agricultural purposes) and it does not expire. There is mine, right under the Flux Capacitor...........

You are allowed to drive on streets in almost all state parks, and counties and cities that allow it. You must have a valid drivers license, and under 18 must wear a helmet.
