I have a 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000-5 and a 2015 Can-Am Commander XT. We use them on our mid-west recreational farm. The Honda is our go to because of seating capacity. It is time for us to trade in the Can-Am for something for my seating capacity. I am considering another Pioneer, but also others. The Mule Pro fxt ranch edition seems like a great value, so that is strong on my list. Anyone have experience with a Mule, or others that I should consider? I think the Ranger Crew will be more than I want to spend. Sorry so off topic, but figured everyone here would be a wealth of info.

For "ranch use", the 700-4 also has the quickflip seating like the 1000 but cheaper. Outside of that...or if you're looking for "real" seats, I agree with @Farmer that a Yamaha X4 or even a crew viking might be choices that I'd have no worries about as far as durability.

Yup, the Pioneer 1000-5 is a compromise in favor of utility as far as the rear seats go. It gives you a very usable rear cargo bed with the seats folded away. And "usable" rear seats when necessary. The Wolverine, with a 3" longer wheelbase, has nicer rear seats - they move forward to make a small cargo area, though nothing like the Honda's.

Really depends on how much you want to spend and what you want to do with it. The Mule Pro series machines are solid. Kawie makes a great machine. Rarely a problem with them....ever. BUT............its not going to win any races. Its a slow rolling tank.

The Wolvie RMAX is killer. Yamaha did a great job with that one. The newer Wolvie X4 is nice.

The Teryx is also a solid machine. Total tank, and still kinda sporty.

Your top FULL utility models are going to be the Ranger and Defender. Below them, check out the Mule Pro and the Viking. (Mule > Viking)

Sport Utility:
- Rmax, General, new Commander, Teryx and Pioneer. and then the newer Wolvie X4 model.

Neighbor has a mule pro. He loves it. It's bigger than pioneer and slower. Think it does 45mph. Definitely louder too. But a dependable machine built to work.

Hands down no 2nd thoughts I would go Wolverine Rmax 1000 4. Perfect blend of utility and sport. 4 seats without being a limo. 10 year "wet" belt warranty. It's not a dry CVT.

That's what I would have in conjunction with the pioneer 1000-5.

Agree. I *almost* bought one before I settled on the P1K5.

Agree on the RMax 1000 4. Really liked it but wanted the 5th seat and utility of the Pioneer. Now that I have it I don regret it a bit. Next sxs will be a Talon.

The RMAX is an awesome machine. I have both, the pioneer 1000 and the RMAX 1000. You won't be disappointed, it is super nice. Both have their place and I wouldn't trade either one of them.

You need to decide what the primary function is going to be.

if it’s 95% work, a Kawasaki Mule wins hands down…as said before it’s a tank for durability. You won’t win races with its top end of 45mph, but it will always bring you home and get the job done. IIRC the beds are steel….at least our farm one is. Much more durable that the poly ones from every one else.

Love my Honda, but it’s bed won’t take the abuse a steel one can.
