I know I am beating a dead horse here with another winch mount question, but it seems like KFI and Super ATV kinda dropped the ball on the engineering of their mounts. Because of this, I am wondering if anyone else has tried a different aftermarket mount?

I plan to call EMP this afternoon, but even theirs seems like it would be difficult to disengage and engage the spool.

I am not looking into a replacement bumper, as I have the Honda brush gaurd already.

I talked to EMP on Tuesday they told me the winch mount should be on there web site in a week or two.

What is the problem people are seeing with the kfi mount?

I have the KFI mount and a SuperWinch 4500. The issue with the KFI and apparently the OEM Honda mount also is that the winch sits down below the failead or hawse mounted on the bumper causing a bit of a angle on the pull. I have just used mine twice so far, once pulling down parts of an old barn and the other pulling a pickup truck out of a muddy rut. Winch works fine but when I put the juice to it with my brakes on, it pulls the front end of the machine down telling me about that angle. I may switch out to the EMP mount but I think I will wait until I hear from others who try it.

I overnighted the emp mount. Broke my drum on the warn them first trip out i used it. Just noticed that last night. Not Warns or Hondas fault I don't think anyways It was more of there being a blizzard and me not paying attention to how it was winding since I couldn't see the front end. That's one thing I don't like about the Honda mount its harder to get the cable on the drum straight too.

So I'm starting my install with the EMP brackets and a Superwinch Terra 45 winch. First problem I ran into is on the planetary gear side of the winch the forward most bolt of the mount will not clear the gear case so you will ever need to space the winch down a 1/4" or so or do what I did and grind the bolt down and weld it to the bracket like a stud. I should have some pictures up towards the end of the weekend i'm slow at that. other than that it looks like a very well built quality product and the rope will be at a much better angle than my factory Honda/Warn setup was.
