That being eternal flame? It is methane released from a pocket hit during coal mining operations (or so I have been told) that has been lit and continues to burn. 42 miles by the route I took from the parking lot at Windrock

I think it has been / could probably be put out, but it’s gas would continue to escape so keeping it lit is the best / safest alternative

That's a good ride. We just almost loaded up this morning and headed over to Windrock, but had a few things that needed done around the house. Wish we would have gone now. The wife is wanting to ride over to Brushy Mountain and see the prison.
