Looking for suggestions on upgrading brakes. What are you all doing? Any recs for aftermarket pads that have worked well for you?

Hah! Well I’m probably getting ahead of myself. I just upgraded wheels/tires and figured I may need a little more stopping power with the added weight/height. If it’s common to stick with OEM, then that’s what I’ll do.

Stock arms, no bracket lift.

Yes, RC shocks. I actually backed off 1/2” preload from factory and am using that as a starting point. From the thread on here, it looks like a lot of folks are going with about 2” of threads showing. I’m at 1.5” for now.

See above response to packer58. I’m only about 1” lift over factory. These shocks are advertised to give up to 2” so they’re nowhere near maxed out. Either way, I’m still playing around with it.

Dosnt look like much spring left in the pics.
What size tires you runnin? Look like at least 30’s
Might want to think about aftermarket arms and some spacers or u will rub plus u can fix that crappy stock camber.

28x10 KM3 on SB-5 wheels all the way around. Didn’t want to start down the path you describe. Just wanted slightly over stock with no rubbing.

Not a bad choice in wheels.
That path you dont want to go down is paved with good intentions, not a bad rout to take in the long run😉

@samson7x , i'm at 2" of threads below the locking ring and i think i'm getting close to good enough. I do have a fairly heavy DIY tire / gas can rack behind the tailgate.

How much lift did that result in? At 1.5” threads below ring, I’m at a 1” lift. Ride quality so far has been good but I don’t have many miles on it yet. Faster speeds really smooth out. Way better than stock.

Approx 1.5" and within 1/4" of being level measuring below the pipe rail running down both sides of the machine. Deff agree ride is much better than stock.

@samson7x, here's a few pics of the rear rack i put together. It's probably 80 +/- pounds total fully loaded like you see it. Even so, 2" of preload on the rear shocks seems pretty close ........ for now ..View attachment 415385

Wow, looks great. You fabbed that yourself? I’m a YouTube certified welder and made my rear bumper. Designed to still be able to use tilt bed function. I’ll see if I can dig up a pic when it’s new.

I’m a duck hunter and think a quack rack style project is in my future. About $2000 retail and I priced materials at $200 so can’t beat that.
