I just ordered a new heater core from Ebay ($25 shipped), and a 3 speed 450cfm 12v blower for $50 shipped (from http://www.surpluscenter.com). I need a bit of hose, a couple fittings, a switch, and some flexible duct/vents. Can fairly easily put this together for less than $150.

Unless I had a full cab enclosure, I'm not convinced that the heater would make a $450 difference. The idea of a defroster does appeal to me as I've been on side by sides in the past with an iced over or frosted windshield.
Looking at this design, I'm wondering how well the defrost feature works on this model. It appears that the vent louvers may have an obstructed angle to direct warm air up onto the windshield, it's hard to say without seeing the vent openings and operation.

It also mounts the same place as the custom switch set that ohana made

Saw that too....There's probably enough room on lower left corner you could cut a hole for a vent.....symmetrically to the Voltmeter.
