Haven't done Blackstone on my wheeler but have on other MC's. I use Mobil 1 synthetic 4T Racing or 20-50 V-Twin in everything toy related.

It was a check on oil breakdown at 5000 miles.
Not intended to start an oil thread.

I would also be interested in the results.

I used to do it on my vehicles. I then came to the realization that i can buy a whole gallon of oil for what it costs to send in and have them tell me it’s fine. Even if it wasn’t fine, it wasn’t as if I learned concrete actionable items.

I still do it for work where I have 50 plus gallons of oil at stake in a machine and there is value in extending the change intervals.

On my personal vehicles and equipment it just doesn’t pencil when the cost of the test is 50%+ of the cost of changing oil.

I'd like to see anyones results. It sucks that the oil change interval is 600 miles. This same motor in the africa twin probably has a 7000 mile oil change interval. WTF I wish I could feel comfortable going 1000 miles. It's not a cheap oil change.

My TRX700XX had a oil change interval of 100 hours I think????? Crazy. and it only held a couple quarts!

Actually the oil change interval for the 1000 is 1200 miles according to the manual. I like the peace of mind and still change mine at 600. I figured oil is cheap insurance. The guy I run around has been doing his every 1000 to make it easier to remember.

Aha! C thats what I dont get  I've seen that sheet in my book but it contradicts my dash. I just did my first oil change a cpl weeks ago and when I reset the service light now it says next service is at 600 or another 100 hrs. So does that mean the service light is for all recommended services not just fluids?

My apologies for the (maybe dumb) questions :)
I just didnt know if the service light was programmed to considered all the services needed (air filter, checking nets  , etc.)

I'm guessing they just want you to check/service other items. It doesn't look like there is much at 600, but there are a few items at 1800. Like I said before, oil is cheap in my mind so I just do mine every 600 when the light comes on. I will say the oil is very clean and I'm sure it really doesn't need it, but I like peace of mind. On my 700 I was actually doing every 400 miles with it.

Well that's strange. I figured the oil and filter was due whenever the light came on. So every other time it comes on, you just reset it?? That really doesn't make sense.

Not a dumb question at all! Your thinking is correct about the service light. It's all maintenance items. I don't even look at mine because it's too much of a PITA for me to keep track of. I just change my engine oil, filter and DCT filter every time my odo hits the next 1000 miles. Checked my spark arrestor a few times, always clear. Tire pressure monthly or when I see one low, brakes-listen for wear sensors, Sub-trans oil and final gear oil every January. Piece of cake.

Thanks! Sounds good, I like to keep it simple and convenient like that. Easy dates and markers to remember make life a lot easier :)
