I’ve been performing a recent full maintenance on p1000-5 trail and need to adjust mode selection cables, and possibly the accelerator pedal and brake cables. I can’t locate the box shown in the service manual to adjust 2wd/ Turf/ park. I was able to find a cable on rear differential, but didn’t look like the cable box in manual and only had one cable going in, also the cover says to adjust “in turf”, manual states to do so in 2wd?

I’ve noticed my unit has used 2 quarts of anti freeze over course of 7000 miles. Cant find a leak?? I had to add a few oz of differential fluid this service?

Could someone please help?
Also where are the accelerator/ brake cables, if different as shown in manual? All input is greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure of the year, but Honda did away with that box under the drivers side rear passenger floorboard. At lest that's my understanding. I had one on both my 2016 & 2018 models but my 2024 model does not have it.

Is your service manual for the correct model year that you actually have? If so look for Trail / Forest model specific information as they are different than the base and deluxe versions of the 1000-5

unless u have aliens visiting, you have leaks in the coolant system, weeping out, etc. and for your diff it possibly wasn’t fully topped off last time it was swapped or a weeper

I honestly have never heard of anyone adjusting throttle cable and to my knowledge your machine has a hydraulic brake system - no cables

Thanks for the info. Does anyone know what the adjustment cable on the front passenger side, around front differential, no cover on it. I tighten it down once, the machine was dropping out of gear and all sorts abnormal shifting, unless in manual. I had to use man to get it home.

The dealer told me machine would use some after new (coolant) but two quarts seems like a lot to consume over 7000 miles. However I am riding in mountain trails, slow and steep roughed terrain.

Check your water pump weep hose. If it’s coming from there atleast you know where it’s leaking. May need a pump seal or somethin

On your Trail Edition it's I-4WD and a "cable" to the front drive unit just engages 4WD plus wheel speed sensors, left and right.

Can you take a detailed picture and point out what you are calling the cable on the passenger side of the front differential ?

There's still a cable to engage 4wd.
Would him tinkering with it cause it to exhibit the odd shifting / no shifting he described? I ran my 2018 LE P1K for 13K miles and never had an issue, or even messed with it.

It shouldn't, sounds like electrical problems
Yes sir, it will cause it to drop gears in motion, high rev, all sorts of abnormalities. I try get a pic today. It’s not on the drawing above. Just above and behind the passenger front tire. I start having popping issues, at time it was hard to define a location. We start blind tinkering with cable adjustments. The only way I could get unit back to shop was in manual. I loosen the right/ front cable back to 1/2 turn loose (.2-2mm) unit ran like a top since, with exception of right rear cb joint on axle needing changed.

your dealer is a moron, it’s a closed loop system, unless you boiled some out it has a weeper somewhere, water pump vent, etc.

when was the last time u added coolant to a late model or new car/truck ?

if I was buying a new machine and they said, hey it will need coolant at some point as it burns coolant, I’d be concerned😱.

Maybe it was indicating 4WD but not reading speed for the input or something and it freaked out.
