I’m not to keen on the electrical wiring and my under the hood area looks like multicolored spaghetti already. In the past I had a 12 plug that spliced into two females, which was plugged into the receptacle below the dash. Problem was more wires hanging low around the floorboards. I then tried another more ridged splicer but that broke in half somehow. I really wish Honda installed the 12 volt socket in the dash. Having it below sucks when there’s any weight on it and sometimes when I hit a bump, it comes unplugged. I really need having a way to charge my iPad, I phone and sometimes my GPS while riding. I would really like to figure out how to add in 2-3 more 12 volt sockets. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
I am running out of room on the dash though.

I have a solution for you.
I'll post some pics this weekend when it is installed. You may be able to do something similar on your 500.
I am planning on mounting this:

In the circled area of this picture. Plan is to charge phones in the USB ports, and plug heated jacket into cig port.

Another option is to get a plug from Honda for the Rancher. For the Rancher, you have to buy the plug separate and suspect it will likely plug in somewhere.... Here is the plug Honda Genuine Accessories 12V Accessory Socket Sub Harness | MotoSport which can be purchased from various dealers and there are many YouTube clips on the install. Again, I'm thinking there may be a plug in place, but I no longer have a 500 to look for you...

I got the same as montecresto, you can plug in two cords. I have one more to put in they splice into your existing 12 volt socket and it will still work it's easy to do. I bought them from PBR enterprise's I think they were 6 or 7 bucks each
