The other day I went to start my p500 and the battery was low cranked over a few times and then nothing so I had to charge it
I have a battery tender junior it has a disconnect about a foot up from the clamps...my question is has any body removed the clamps and wired it directly to the battery, then left the disconnect outside of the box
It was just such a pain to remove the cover, charge the battery and then put the cover back on there has to be a better way
The disconnect on the clamp end has a dirt cover that slips over the connector so it should be protected any ideas would be appreciated

I bought this plug off Amazon , wired it directly to the battery & drilled and mounted in plug end in the front fender of my 1000. Plug & play with battery tender. Works great.

That's a good idea you wouldn't have to worry about wires hanging out of your battery cover that way

Yes, I put it on the driver's side so it's in the way of getting in the cab, I didn't mistakenly drive off with it plugged in. Lol

Did you leave the alligator clamps or wire direct
I don't think they would fit in there..lol
Mine was made to connect to battery direct with good connectors.Just cut off the ends after fuse make sure you know Pos from Neg and cripp some type of connector and leave it hang out side the box..

That's what I was thinking of doing the manufacturer must have set it up with a dirt cover for that purpose ...thanks

All of my wiring goes into the box, power blocks and circuit breaker. I wired one of these up years ago and leave it on a tender year round. Haven't opened up the battery box since. You can see it mounted on the front of the box just behind the white sticker on the rops.

So that takes the place of just leaving the connector hanging out and of the battery box?

Wired mine up to my circuit breaker then ran it out by the drivers door so I wouldn’t forget to plug and unplug it.

Most battery tenders come with the ring terminal that ends in the double ended connector. We install a lead on every new unit that leaves our shop. Makes it easier when it comes in the charge the battery or keep it healthy while it sits.

I went and looked to see if the connector was installed and it was so that will at least make it so I don't have to remove the battery cover...thanks
