Hi all. What is the benefit of the accessory harness versus a fuse block? Is it just to cut off power to accessories without the key being in the "on" position?

Yes, for the most part.
Assuming you are talking about the one with the red connector and 5 or 6 lines?
The harness provides a keyed-on positive for relay control and what not.
Mostly so you do not have to cut/tap the OEM wire harness.
Its a small amp line, 15a max shared between that and the CIG/ACC socket.
If you dont have a lot going on, it could power a set of cubes and many small LED light bars on its own.

Ok. I think I'll just trust myself not to leave anything hot and go with a fuse block for everything. I'll use LED lighted switches so I'll know.

That will work.
Yet, I still highly recommend having your winch on a keyed-on source tho.

I'm relatively new to the SXS world, but have had Jeeps and 4x4s in the past and never had my winches on a keyed power source. Is there a specific reason that is different to the P5 or SXSs in general?

I found the harness key controlled power good to prevent inadvertent drain, and to kill the winch for safety in case the neighbor kids might snoop around in my barn and activate switches (kid curiosity). Same reason I lower hydraulics on the tractor. For the small price, the harness was good for light, horn and radio. All a personal preference.

If it's the same as the 1000, it also provides the circuit for factory windshield wipers, which makes them plug and play.

What I find odd is there are 3 different voltages at that red connector, but the acc harness only uses the 12v one. Notably, there is a 5 volt source that would be perfect for usb devices.

Did you have a good connection when you tested?
P500 - Accessorry sub harness description

I did, but I can verify if you’d like. IIRC, the voltages were 12.xx(battery voltage), 11.xx(not sure what that one would be for), and 5.xx. I checked the voltages after asking what the red connector was for under the hood and was told it was for the Acc harness. This is on a 2017.

Again, IIRC, I was surprised to find only two pins in the acc harness, I thought for sure there would be a 12v as well as a 5v connection.

Took some pics to clarify

Acc plug on the machine:
CEC68F4C 3C9A 415A B6DC 4C39EA215D3D

Plug on Acc harness:
81B9B867 69F1 42FA A080 3637201EC395

As you can see, there are only two pins used in the Acc harness, but yes, the harness does provide 4 connections.

With the bike running, the 3 voltages measured were 4.6v, 12.5v, and 14.5v.
With the bike not running the voltages were 4.5v, 10.5v, and 12.5v

Edit: The 3 voltages above were measured at the Acc connector on the machine, not on the Acc harness
