Get a 4500 lb winch in a brand you trust. Mine is Warn because that's what the dealer sold.
Being stuck 6 miles from nowhere, and having your winch quit, makes for a sucky day.

I’ll second what everyone else has said-4000-4500 lb. should be good. I recommend one with synthetic rope as well. I’d get a warn or superwinch. Warn has the reputation but superwinch has the price that is hard to ignore.

Not a bad price - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01INXE0KQ/?tag=sxsweb24-20
I havent anymore good/bad about Viper then the others.

My co-worker has a Viper. He bought the 3500 for his 4 wheeler based on price. He reportedly had to use it extensively on one of his hunting trips. He said he had to pull the cable out (50 ft) and winch it all the way. He repeated this 3 times before he got to solid ground. That much winching will drain a battery and/or burn up a cheap winch. He says it never faltered and he will buy another one.

Personally I've never owned one.

Now, I've told you more than I know.

I got a 4000lb Warn Vantage and its been a good winch so far. I've pulled some heavy stuff with with no trouble. I haven't har to use it to pull myself out yet though. LOL. I also used it for plowing which is a lot of cycling up and down. I did a lot of reading and I was trying to decide between a Warn, a KFI, or a Viper. In the end I got what I know and since I had 3 other Warn winches in the past with great luck I stuck with Warn. I read good things about KFI and Viper though.

I also believe in the synthetic rope.
I HATE HATE HATE getting frayed wires stuck in my hands.

Finally got around to putting a winch on my rig. I went with the 4700 pound champion. Super easy install. Only issue I had was I had to notch the bumper skid so the fairlead would fit.

As far as dependability goes I reckon I will find out. I have had good luck with champion products in the past and it comes with a 2 year warranty.

I've had good luck with my Champion 4000 on my 700 and use it alot lifting the snow plow in the winter. I think I saw that Costco had the 4700 for $129. The only thing I don't like about it is the big control switch, but I put smaller champion on someones 500 over the 4th and added a contactor and regular in/out switch. Which every way you go, I believe a winch is a must. Last winter I was stuck in a snowdrift on the side of mountain, and sure glad I had it.
