That's 3/8th.. half inch is more comparable to aluminum in strength but still not quite as strong. They're using 1/4 aluminum to compare weights and aluminum skids are 3/16th which is 83.8 lbs on a 4x8 sheet.. compared to 1/2" UHMW at 79.2 lbs on a 4x8 sheet... The rival 4mm skids are a hair thinner than 3/16th so should be some lighter. The weight argument between 1/2" UHMW and aluminum shouldn't even be a talking point. But I've seen it brought up so many times when I was looking. It's strictly the properties and cost of the materials that should be considered when choosing between the two. Different strokes for different folks.. and eachbhave their merits. I just don't want to see people make a choice on skids based on inaccurate or misleading info put out by those manufacturing the skids.

I have no idea the cause for concern.
What's the debate? What's to imply?
