P500 Changing from 2WD to 4WD and back

The manual states that the Honda Pioneer 500 must come to a complete stop before changing from 2WD or 4WD or back again. If this instruction is ignored and when going in a straight line and travelling less than say 15 mph, is it going to cause any major problems.

Welcome to the Club @Ian !! I would always suggest that we follow the manual, just because I am sure Honda has a room full of monkeys working around the clock on this stuff. It may be one of those things that you can do it 14 times and get away with it but that 15th time my be the deal breaker!

I always change on the fly 2/3 gear slow speed and never on the gas

I also change on the fly slow speed, no gas.
So far no issues. I really couldn't imagine havind to completely stop to change it just before a hill or technical section.

shifted on the fly at low speed a few times. then read the sticker on the drivers side and now stop before I shift to 4wd

I do it all the time anywheres from10-20 times a ride lol i havent blown anything yet and have yet to hear any kind of bad noise

i shift at low low speed....let it come to a crawl

I generally come to a stop to engage 4wd, but usually just slow down to below 10-15mph to disengage. Haven't had any problems.

On the fly. In slow and never under power, out whenever you let off
I figure it is same as my Foreman was and that is how my Rubicon is.
it won't go in and grind.

Im confused with this as well, the manual says to come to a complete stop however Honda's Official 700 video shows the driver changing it on the fly, um....is this one of those expert drivers on a close course do not try at home things? "rolling eyes"

I have done it on the fly as well not very fast under 10mph and not on gas as mentioned above.

I've played with this moving at low speed off the gas and switched into and out of 4WD without any gear gnashing at all.
