We currently have 2 2012 Altima 2.5l SL and we have my 2010 Silverado. Everything is paid for. My commute is only 10 minutes when headed to training and 15 when I go to the plant. Would you continue to keep the truck parked most of the time and drive the car, or sell the car and pocket $7k?

My Silverado stays parked till I need it and I drive a 93 Sentra to my dirty plant. Truck stays clean and safe at home.

I drive my truck for all of my close jobs and my car for when I'm putting on a lot of miles and am not carrying anything to work.

Ive always figured its a lot cheaper to replace these cars than one truck. However which such a short commute not sure if its worth it. I do like having an extra vehicle around. Truck gets used during hunting season, hauling things, and towing stuff around but that’s about it.

That’s a tough call. Your commute is pretty short and one of the worst things you can do is let a vehicle sit too long. On the other hand I’m sure cost of maintenance is more on the Chevy, especially if it’s a diesel. Tires alone can set you back near $2000 these days! I have a commuter truck (1991 Nissan d21) that is cheap to maintain, easy for me to work on, and I don’t feel bad when I rack up my 300 miles a week. My tow rig (2016 powerstroke) gets driven a couple times a week and is usually hauling or towing something as it was meant for. So I guess I’d say keep the commuter and prolong the trucks life, but make a point to drive the Chevy at least once a week.

Also, check with your insurance. It was actually went down when I added a 3rd vehicle.

Had to move the truck. Needed to getthe lawnmower out. Gonna have to finally drive it since the lawnmower, sxs, chainsaw, and trimmer are out of fuel. I took a picture to commemorate it finally moving.

This is such an easy question. Insurance vs. gas.
