Someone pointed out that they first read this and assumed it was posted in ignorance and not respect.

We were at Pearl in ‘11 for Dec 7, the 70th anniversary.

The Survivors were treated with the respect they were due, they had permanent reserved parking at the very closest to the building and golf carts to carry them around.

We were at the memorial on the boat after theirs (which theirs was scheduled for the time of the Arizona explosion) they had Navy and Marines in full dress escorting (respective of the survivors service branch) these gentleman and standing at full attention during the ceremony.

It was awe inspiring, it was dead silent for our groups time on the memorial, no one said a single audible word, no one was on a mobile device except to take pictures. All you heard was the flag flapping in the wind, and the waves hitting the exposed portion of the Arizona and the memorial.

Those were the days when we answered An act of war correctly. Japan will never make that mistake again.

My father's ship had just pulled out of Pearl 2 days before the attack. He just celebrated his 91st B-day the 21st of November.

Hero's are a lot harder to find today.

Never forget.

With the current generations mindset and values, not sure we could do what was done for WWll.

Seems we have raised a bunch of self centered pansies....

There's still that 1% That serve with pride.
And are not selfish one bit.
I watched my boy graduate Infantry school last week at fort benning.
Our military is pumping out men to be proud of.
Make sure they get the message out there to support these brave souls. That in this day and age we still have young men willing to fight for what's right. And that's our freedom.....
Remember to respect our flag at all time and show the world Americans are proud of their country. And we will protect it till death.
