New p500 2018 owner.

What to purchase first?

1. Honda windshield and roof
My dealer have me a $728 OTD price for both. Thoughts?

2. Wheels and tires.

This will be used primarily on Wisconsin trials and for work around the house. My wife will be the primary driver.

Thank you for your time

For me personally...

1. A winch or some way to get unstuck (comealong maybe).
2. Roof. The cheaper Moose roof seems to do fine for much less
3. I'd have a hard time discarding perfectly good tires unless the need is truly great.
4. Also not a big fan of full windshields, but I've not been freezing my ass off in Wisconsin either.

I’m not a windshield person but a roof for sun protection was a must for my wife (stage 3 melanoma survivor)

Wheels/tires...personally I’m running the factory set until they are worn out or no longer holding air.

Unless you always ride with others or are one strong person or never ride near anything wet then I winch is a must on a 1,000+ pound machine in my opinion. I never had one on my atv’s but I could always lift one end at a time and get them out and rarely was I ever out with only a single machine. The SxS though I can’t lift and the wife and I will be out alone in it at times.

Thats was what i quickly discovered. I'm big and strong enough to usually get a quad back on track, but once these things get stuck, no one short of Dwayne Johnson or Triple H is gonna do much with them.

Roof and windshield first and then tires. Good luck.

Honda roof is good but I would look at the SuperATV flip windshield!! A winch is a must.. also the Husky tool box and strongmade basket combo is great!

Thanks all! Yes I will look at super atv. Also I'm reading this $220 windshield on Amazon or eBay has some on here impressed. Big cost difference. I want to spend money once. Not 2 or 3 times. LOL.

Also I like the EMP red roof. Well the look of It. Thoughts on that?

Thank you for your time

I like my Honda windshield, but I do wish I had the super atv windshield. I may have to sell mine and upgrade.

Remember, if you get a windshield you will want a rear panel to knock down some of the dust. That is a must in my opinion.

Thanks. Yes I've been reading and realized I will need that. Stumbled across some old posts about the glass windshield. By armorlite I think it is. 1600 bucks plus shipping that's tough to swallow.

A good windshield will cost you around $400 but it’s a good investment, the only thing I don’t like about the Honda windshield is that when it gets dirty or mud on it, you can’t just flip it up out of your way like the super atv windshield. That’s the one I’d get if I were you. Or I’ll cut you a heck of a deal on mine and I’ll get it lol. :)

I caution you that this hobby gets expensive. I bought mine in November and I’m still checking things off the wish list.

I bought my 2015 shortly after the p500 came out. There wasn't alot of accessories available at the time ,unless you bought from Honda. Something that I realize now , I could have saved a bunch of money , if there had been more companies offering accessories at the time.

If you have any fab skills , making it yourself is the best way to go and the money you saved from doing that , can be spent on the things you can't make

A winch and roof would be at the top of my list , winch to get you out of trouble and a roof for those rainy days !

I have the EMP roof and no complaints (when I bought mine you could get any color you wanted as long as it was black - just like Henry Ford, haha). I also like the little lip front and back that acts as a rain gutter.
With the Moose folding windshield there is about 4 inches between roof and windshield, which is a great place to mount a GoPro.

I'm going with the red EMP. Anyone know if the Super ATV flip out windshield will fit with this roof.

If getting stuck on the trails is a possibility, winch first, comfort items later. Winch also useful for some chores around the property. Can get a 3500# harbour freight winch on sale for $99, good insurance. Don’t waste time with a 2500# one.
