I have a 2016 1000-5 deluxe and the shift lever will not go into diff lock. The metal bar where lever hits will only move about 1/4” and won’t allow lever to engage. The indicator lights for 2wd and 4wd also do not work but I’ve tested all modes and they are in correct mode even though the lights don’t show it. I’ve adjusted the flux capacitor to what I’ve seen on here and no luck. Pics attached of shift lever problem and current flux capacitor adjustment

Is the shift linkage box full of mud? Maybe it got some dirt/sand in the linkage that doesn't let it fully engage.

Where would that box be? I’ve cleaned and lived everything I could find but I may have missed something.

Your flux capacitor box is what I was referring to, it looks like its got a lot of mud/sand in it. Does it feel "crunchy" when you move the shift lever?

Also, your flux capacitor has no effect on front diff. It's only for the rear diff lock in 2WD (one cable) and/or when you put the shifter in Park (the other cable). But yeah, I'd get the crud outta there so it all glides smoothly.

Well I found why I couldn’t go into diff lock and I feel like an idiot. But hopefully me showing this will keep someone else from doing it.

When installing my viper winch plate I sandwiched the diff cable in the u bolt and crushed it so it couldn’t move. I removed it and it’s working now but I will be replacing the cable.

My indicator lights still don’t work though. So that’s tomorrows project.

One more question.

My buddies 1000 will go into diff lock and works fine going forward but in reverse the diffs aren’t locked. Is that normal??

Hey at least I owned up to it, lol. I never looked behind the bar, just reached around and put U bolt on it. Didn’t see it until started tracing the cable out to see why it was stuck. Yep I felt like an idiot but it was a cheap mistake.
I've done similar things myself. But I dont mind a little humility to get off cheaper!

That’s what I thought but his slips out in reverse
Mine does this in drive as well let me know if you found a fix. It acts like it’s not fully in diff lock, once you get it in a bind it pops out and has done this since the first day I bought it.

Is it slipping out of "DIFF LOCK" or out of "4 Wheel Drive" while in reverse? There are TWO cables that operate the front drive unit. One connects the front driveshaft power to the front differential. This cable needs to be adjusted so that the front drive clutch fully engages, if not properly adjusted, it will "pop out" or "slip out" of 4 WD. The Diff Lock cable needs to be operating and adjusted properly for the same reasons. Make sure that your problem is not the front drive clutch instead of the front Diff Lock.
