Anyone tried a disc like this. Thinking about getting one for food plot.

Years ago I made one to work with a large garden tractor. They do work for loosening up the top inch or so of the soil but that is it. You're not going to tear up unbroken sod or make your food plot look like a plowed farm field. To do that you need weight, and those small disks need more weight than you can probably pull to make them dig down enough. Lots of repetitive passes. But it's better than a shovel and rake!

I used one a few years ago and it did a great job you just need to put some weight on it. Also you will have to go over it more than doing it with a tractor. Another thing it will probably cut the ground up better if it has a little moisture in the ground.

I have one similar to this. It works good but I have a lot of sand. I make a couple passes empty to break it up then add 3 or 4 cinder blocks and do more passes.

It takes about an hour to do my 1.5 acre food plot.

Didn't work well for me. My soil is silty loam. I suspect in sand it would work better. I bought a tractor that came with a disc and that is what I use for food plotting now.
