P700 Door Laches.

having problems with latches wearing out. Replacing second drivers side seems not very well made. Any suggestions?
considering taking off doors.

Tryin to help him cuz the year might matter in his quest. he joined in 15’ assuming he has a 15’ its quite possible the currant P7 latches fit and hold up better? If he has a new year buggy, well I guess hes fuc’d!

I'm not very creative, so it'll be probably pretty bland.

Purchased in 2015. First driver side door wore out 6 years this one 2 years. Used almost daily. Opened and closed about 10,000 times. Has about 6000 hours.

Latch metal is thin metal and springs are thread size small. Welded metal back in 2 places but that does not replace spring. One of 2 springs also broke.

Rest of P700 been used but not abused too and very impressed battery, and starter still original. Tires, Joints, brakes and alternator were replaced 2 years ago.

Thought someone may have heard of a recall on P700 door latches Since this is second one for this P700.

Have you thought about just removing the door? I don't find the 700 door offers too much occupant protection.

The weld job worked. Called about door latch. Has 3 different part numbers spring, latch, and back plate.
welding back plate seems to have fixed it. 😊
