I enjoyed this, they hit a lot of the information square on the head.

Only thing they left out was the balance, or lack there of.
The Banshee was nose heavy, so you tried to balance that with application of throttle.
Made for a high input riding experience, you never had time to relax.
And, the nose heavy weight distribution made it nose dive on every jump.
Fun as s*** and excellent bang for the buck, I sure as s*** couldn't afford a Porsche back then (had to borrow my brothers claped out 912).

I had an 88’ Banshee back in 90’ Was fun AF at the dunes. My buddy had an 87’ we bored them out .50 over put some boison power reeds in them and dual Toomey pipes on it. They both were rockets. Had to later shave the front fenders cuz it was so powerful the front would start to lift.

Yes the nose was very heavy. In fact at the dunes, I blasted to the top of the big hill and when I got there, the other side had land slided a bit from the night before. Cuz of the weight, the quads weight crested forward and pushed me face first in the sand and crushed my back. I was out of commission
for about a week after that.
I think I have some Polaroids stashed somewhere of those rigs. 🤣

Watched this the other day and brought back some memories. My buddy had one back in the early 2000s and I had the one of the first 660r Raptors that came off the line back in 2001. We had some good times back then.

The pic was at a state campground next to the dunes is where we use to stay. Thats was in early spring and no leafs on the trees

Found this post and after reading it, I remembered that I had a picture that would hit both topics:
Derek roosting S L 10 25 03

Not me, but my riding buddy who lives in SC now. Silver Lake Sand Dunes 10-25-03. He still has that Banshee and was just riding it this past weekend at Brimstone.

Here is part of the original crew's machines back in '01:
