Staging area off Hwy 87.
Hard to see but there's a Talon centerish of pic.

Roosevelt Lake down below. Water level is pretty low.
Roosevelt Lake bridge.
We chatted up a nice couple on a road trip from Texas and gave them some directions to Apache Junction. That's typically accessible a bit easier from this spot but due to a landslide in 2019 the easier route is closed indefinitely.
I Just realized I didn't take a pic of the dam, it's right behind us.
Here's a pic of my buddy standing on top of the rubble from the landslide. This is from when we explored the area early last year to see the damage firsthand.
The lighter colored center area is where the break was that is now completely blocking that part of Apache Trail.
Getting back to today, we had great weather although a bit windy. Got back to the staging area uneventfully.
