Actually, we mittenheads mostly refer to "up north" as the upper lower peninsula. Anything north of Saginaw/Bay City/Midland area is "up north.

When we Michiganders are referring to the upper peninsula, we literally refer to it as the UP.

But being from Da UP ... you know this.
